This week, B&K Agency’s Director of Geopolitical Intelligence Heath Sloane shared an overview of Islamic networks in the Sudan civil war at the European Parliament, alongside Sudanese civilian advocate and a former minister in Sudan’s Transitional Government Khalid Omer Yousif.
B&K Agency’s analysis uncovered an ecosystem of Islamist networks that supply ideological credibility and digital propaganda to the Sudanese Armed Forces, showing that pro-SAF Islamist channels regularly borrow narratives from Hamas-aligned media, framing the Sudan war as part of a wider struggle against Western-backed democratic transitions. The penetration of Iranian and Houthi assets inside SAF-controlled territory over the past 18 months are also a sign of concern.
In his speech, Heath warned that if Sudan becomes an Islamist-aligned state again, the impact will not stop at Port Sudan and will amplify through the entire Red Sea basin and into Europe’s southern periphery. Therefore, the situation presents urgency for European stakeholders to act quickly and strategically.
